I think if she is a 5, there is the tendency to put the male down to deflect off of all of her numerous shortcomings. My ex- could use this strategy rather effectively. By the time I stopped putting up with it, it had become much too late to salvage anything within the relationship. Since she could not keep me on the defensive anymore, strategy two was to move out. I never had the urge to ask her to come back. She eventually filed for divorce.

in public...fuck no. she'd get this fake attitude. any challenge to her and she'd raise her voice. if she raised her voice, i'd say, please, that is embarrassing, please speak quieter. that would make her louder, she'd always say, " you only care what other people think".

The problem with this situation is not the woman. Every woman will do this. The prolem is the guy. The guy that despite being pissed on, still thinks he's lucky. Who will pay the world for her and still be shat on by her, cause he doesn't demand respect. Nowadays, these guys are more and more becoming the norm..
