One of the reasons many (arguably most) men have difficulty with "being alone" (i.e. enjoying "solitude")...

Is that they've never really PRACTICED it. They've spent their entire lives amidst others -- and have become habituated to the noise/chaos/drama that ensue -- thus true "solitude" doesn't feel like "home" to them, and they can (at best) take it in only small doses...

Solitude requires PRACTICE.

You cannot expect to switch "cold turkey" from a life of busyness (chaos, drama, etc) to a life of quiet solitude in some instant... unless you are already habituated to it, you have to slowly adapt yourself (habituate yourself) to it over time.
