Long time lurker first time poster. First off, this is a bit long. Second off, I am not concerned with karma, rather I am hoping for nuanced discussion.

MGTOW, as I understand it, means just not involving oneself with women. The idea of opting out aligns with my political (libertarian) and religious (atheist) beliefs. I see the sense of entitlement that has many factors, some societal and some biological. These factors in no way excuse the behavior, and certainly that behavior is disgusting. I don't believe that women automatically deserve protection or respect any more than a man does.

I fear that the MRA/MGTOW is on the same, albeit accelerated, crash course that feminism (and frankly all civil rights movements) is on. That is to say MGTOW is not heading towards equality, but a different balance of power. Granted, it’s a semantic difference but I believe its an important one. Feminism aims to change the culture, and has been quite successful over the last 40 years. However, the goal was achieved 30 years ago but they keep pushing because the movement demands a change in the balance of power as opposed to equality. The POC, LGBT and even Atheists (all of which I am a part) are on that same course. The majority of political, economic, and social problems stem from the fact that our technological growth and development is fast outpacing our ability to evolve both on a cultural level, and on a genetic level. I believe MGTOW to be one of the more advanced adaptations in recent years.

I won't preach to the choir on the gynocentric problems with the system. The rampant misandry and horrendous double standards. We're here because we all recognize them. I've seen a lot more posts of late that are almost as petty and shallow as the women they complain about. Obviously people can post whatever they want, and generally I downvote and move on. I think all of us are going to go through a phase where we are just angry at the ex, her shitty friends or even wiser/luckier the experiences of family or friends. As this community grows (80K!!), we're going to attract angry hurt people and almost more importantly, the attention of the 'abandoned'. In my experience the mob mentality is dangerous. The occasional few of us in the angry phase poses no threat to anyone. A thousand….ten thousand? A different story by any measure. I don't believe in playing by their rules, but I'd hate to see this community which has immensely opened up my eyes, be snuffed out. The main mechanism for me (we're all different probably) was seeing men happy on their own. Seeing the plenty that life has to offer when you don't throw it to someone who offers nothing in return. I guess I don't really know where the balance is because warning others is a major function of community. However in my opinion, if we're to go our own way, we won't be consumed by their bullshit and celebrate our own achievements.

TL;DR MGTOW is about opting out. No one is entitled to respect except on merit which must be earned. Lets celebrate individual achievement more often
