I work at a company that pays a safety bonus.
People on the floor (me) get $2k if we make our numbers. People in accounting , business, project management, secretary, white collar, Male CEO, who typically don't get injured get $100. Their jobs are less risky. This seems fair.
Where do think most of the women work? For the record the 3 women who work on the floor get the full $2k and the men accountants only get $100.
Jobs on the floor are 12 hours shifts on your feet , hot, dirty, sweaty, heavy lifting, but they pay more than the 8 hours air condioned desk job.
Where do you think the men work and where do the women work?
Teachers who are mostly women are payed less than engineers. However, after 20 years they get a full pension until they die. Paid not to work. Engineers don't get pensions. is this figured in to the wage calculations?
