This is kind of off topic, but still related. And as a preface: I do not condone the rioting and I support police.

But it think a big part of the problem is the police themselves, but it’s not really their fault. Police have wayyy too much responsibility without the means or manpower to handle it all appropriately. Most of them are overworked and have some level of PTSD, they don’t get any R&R, they’re training is not very good and the amount of sadistic people that get through their screening process is alarming. I hate to feed the stereotype but most of the cops I’ve known are sort of abusive to their spouses and/or kids and are often alcoholics and just generally hard to get along with. Don’t get me wrong I know that’s not grounds for generalizing, but still I think there’s a serious problem. My point is society needs to take a better look at the force and the occupation so these incidents aren’t just bound to happen, plus alleviate a lot of the pressure that police are under all the time.
