The greatest privileged is being mostly alone, exploring your own interests, passions, and leisure. Most people are surrounded on a daily basis by people they only tolerate. If you can get free of people, and the desire for socialization, you actually can come to love relative isolation and not merely tolerate it. Addiction to the validation of others is hard to quit if you have to conform to their standards because of a job or likewise so if you can work remotely or independently you can escape most of that. If not work towards it. After deciding to detach there is a period of suffering until you adjust, but afterwards life really opens up. You can be as eccentric as you want! Meeting people and filling up your social calendar is easy and generally awful if you let it go too far. I try to avoid deep commitments. Dating and meeting women is easy if you are basically fit and prosperous but they are mostly insufferable companions and make for a miserable experience when you no longer are capable of desiring their company. They are basically all the same --enslaved to their circle of nincompoops! Wanting you to be something you aren't for their benefit or worse! I don't need them, and I don't want anyone who professes to need me! I like independence in myself and others as much as is practical. Anyway, the joys of independence, willful eccentricity, open possibility, and lots of time to do as I wish are why I really love the MGTOW outlook on life.

When I was a kid I often admired the fantasy of the eccentric old professor. Now I don't believe academia holds that promise but the idea still holds. I prefer eccentric individualism to conformist society anyday. Leave me to my happy home with my books, music, gardening and athletic pursuits -- that's all I really need. I'll keep the TV off and let the years roll by as one idiot replaces the next in the public spot light.
