Stuff isn't worth as much as freedom. Eventually "stuff" becomes a prison. We spend fortunes to build walls and worry over locked doors to protect our stuff. In my experience (albeit anecdotal), a few quality things that are well appreciated is vastly superior to a houseful of mediocre objects.

My happiest times were living in a 5th wheel, with everything I owned being easily mobile. Followed closely by the time I lived off what I could carry on my motorcycle for a summer. Granted the latter isn't easily sustainable.

This may very well be a dumb question, but why couldn't you say, let a trusted friend "borrow" all your stuff, transfer a bunch of money and shit over to his account, divorce, and then take it back from your friend?

Fuck it, if you don't have kids, losing half doesn't sound that bad compared to being dead of heart attack at 50 because of a bitch's daily drama roller coaster . Heck, even if you lose everything but a car to sleep in it for a while, if you're healthy, you are able to come back and rebuild everything by yourself.
