I built a tiny home/camper in a 7x12 cargo trailer with a 7 foot ceiling (since I'm 6'3...needed the head space.)

I decided to start with the cargo trailer, an aluminum framed one, to help with keeping the weight down, so it could be pulled behind my Jeep Wrangler.

I also decided to skip some of the more "home" like features, like a bathroom. I can shit outside if I can't find a gas station. I can go to the gym to shower and shave and everything else.

I also skipped the kitchen. I'll use a small propane grill, or a hot plate, or build a fire. I have a variety of different small stoves for backpacking, and a larger one that uses sticks and wood to get a really hot fire going. Time will tell which of these is the most beneficial.

For a bed, I bought a lay-flat recliner that doubles as my easy chair. I have a heater, a MaxxFan roof vent, and a desk that mounts to shelf standards on the wall to write and use as a table.

I added an RTIC cooler for perishable food storage...much like the Yeti, but half the price. I still need to add some sort of container for other dry goods storage, just to keep them from flying around when in transit.

Everything is secured with straps and D-rings mounted to the floor when in transit.

I live way up north where it's been really fucking cold for the last 6 months, and I built and finished this over the winter. It'll start getting more serious use now that spring is arriving, and I'm sure I'll make some modifications.

Watch your weight. Don't add more features than you really need and miss out on the minimalism that is really possible if you cut it to the bare bones.

I'm selling my house (thanks to my cheating cupcake) and buying a 36' sailboat. It's a small space, it's movable and can be easily sold.

Tiny Homes are shitty investments. part of MGTOW is being wise with money.

Buy a home with an in-law unit, live in the in-law unit and rent out the house to some poor sap and his spawn. Charge Market value rent and not a dollar less.

I was looking into getting either a yurt (modern Mongolian tent thing) or a geodesic home after buying some property as an affordable way to get my own home, but even that was too pricey. I haven't done it obviously, but I did a ton of research and here is what I found:

-Leasing property is a terrible idea long term. Buy land.

-A lot of these tiny home "trailers" that are supposed to be able to be hauled are very unsafe for the roads and should be moved minimally, if ever. They have a lot of delicate shit, are often wood, and will require you to pack up your entire home just to go somewhere. Also I know a lot of insurance companies are hesitant to insure tiny trailer homes because of their cost and structure.

-Utilities cost a lot of fucking money. Be prepared to live off the grid (hauling water, solar, wind, or generator power, septic tank or outhouse, etc.) if there aren't already hookups where you are. Something as "little" as hooking up to the city's water can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. When your intention is to save money, that's obviously not a wise decision.

-Zoning or HOA may fuck any plans of trailer/tiny home/alternative home that you may have had. Do a fuckton of research before buying or leasing any land with the plan of living their in your tiny or alternative home.

-Most likely, your tiny home will have utter shit insulation and not stand up well at all to substantial snowfall or winds. Be prepared to deal with all eventualities, especially if you live in a rough winter town like I do. The last thing you need is to haemorrhage money on heating costs or have your home destroyed by weather.

-RESEARCH EVERYTHING. Research this ad nauseaum before you spend a cent on the idea. This is a substantial investment, and you don't want to fuck something up or realize you this after you already bought in. Research, ask friends and family, try to get in a tiny trailer and see what you think. Don't just stand in it, pace in it, sit, lay down, mime doing housework. Imagine doing everything you do daily in that space, and if you'd be comfortable with it.

The standard 'mobile home' market is FAR BETTER than this tiny home bullshit, IMO.

From what I have seen they just make expensive custom mobile homes. Its like if you say 'wedding' they charge more money. 'Tiny home' more expensive than 'mobile home'.

They are considered mobile homes by banks and insurance companies so thats what they are. (or a trailer!)

Not me. It's what the social engineers want. Sheep are being herded into their pens. This tiny home movement is a desired response to all that's going on. So I won't do it on that principle alone, just to be contrary to the design.
