I served a gentleman customer. I genuinely thought this man was perhaps 10 years older than me (I'm 36). He informed me he was retired, and that he may look for a part time job in a few months to keep him occupied. He then told me he was 62 years old. I couldn't believe it.

Remember, this is a very busy, yet relatively small store that takes around £50k on a quiet day, so I deal with hundreds of customers.

As he was walking away, the man turned around and bellowed:

"Mate, never get married! That's my secret!"

To which I replied "Don't worry, I don't intend to!"

My next customer was a woman with kids, who threw me a frosty glare.

It's an interesting place to work.
