I get that framing. One can play with the words to fit any agenda, though. That's just marketing. I'm not really interested in the theatrics of selling the idea, moreso the reasoning behind the idea itself. I want to understand it, not be 'for' or 'against' it.
You can pay [for] infrastructure with sales tax, VAT, tolls, gas tax, etc.
Can you? Again, real question. I'm not saying you can't, just trying to understand.
Would that mean a toll for every street, or fees based on using the street? If someone didn't have a job, then they couldn't afford the tolls, right? which would means they couldn't use the street, so then they'd be out of luck when they're trying to get a job, right? If I decide I'm going to take public transit, would public transit be more expensive because it has to pay for the tolls? Seems like this could cause some problems. Wouldn't this interfere with people "pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps"?
Like I said, I'm just curious about the reasoning behind this perspective on taxation. I don't bat for any team.

Thanks! Especially for being patient and having a reasonable conversation about something that could be a hot-button issue.
I think I fall somewhere else on the financial spectrum of where government should play a role. Where I am, we have universal healthcare, and it works, so I'm okay with some taxation to keep certain things like that going. I generally agree about the American welfare state as I've seen enough to show me it doesn't work properly. There are too many "perverse incentives", e.g. if you get some financial aid, but then you work a little, you lose it all. Likewise unwarranted military adventurism, as you say.
Universal Basic Income seems like a possible way to fold all the inefficient social systems into one. It also might cause a revival of personal responsibility: as it is, if some lazy person goes to someone else they can say "the system cheated me, I've been kept down"; with UBI, they couldn't because they'd have to admit they wasted the UBI they got. I'm not saying I'm all for UBI, just think it's an interesting idea. Seems to have problems, though, like the idea that prices (especially rent) would rise to absorb the extra income.
I wonder about a larger death-tax to pay for things, too. When you die, you should get to direct some where you want, like your children or whomever, but maybe anything above the first 50 million could get collected by the government and redistributed. That could be a way to mitigate wealth accumulating in a tiny fragment of very wealthy families. Again, just an idea, a thought-experiment.
Maybe we can do better than libertarian or socialist or capitalist by mixing them all together: the freedom of libertarianism atop the safety-net of socialism (treating human resources as a common-good, like nature), with capitalism on top so people who work really hard really do get extra benefits.

If she spends the money ,(which she will), someone else will pay taxes on their income from her. Also it will lead to more economic growth. Because of this, im actually a big proponent of 0 income taxes. Taxes are only important if she was saving the money, which there is no chance in hell haha
