Gentlemen,
I posted about a week ago regarding my son whom I’ve never met and the desire of his Stepfather to adopt him. This would absolve me of legal and financial responsibility.
The child has learning disabilities and appears to be autistic. My career is highly mobile and will be unable to stay in the area they live.
He is 3.
The stepfather has a child from another relationship. And they just had one together.
Emotions have pushed me either way over the past few weeks. I’ve spoken with many folks (young, old, man, woman, rich, poor, mil, and civilian). All point to thinking of the child first before any other decisions have been made.
The child does not know me (notice I call him the child in order to distance). He knows his stepfather as Dad and calls him as such. I know his background, have spoken with him, and researched his family. Good Christian family (though I am not).
So yes. I’m concerned for his well-being. I want to make sure he is well taken care of. Is that having him stay and be adopted or me injecting myself into his life?
It’s funny. If I had not moved back to where they currently live (albeit only for two years), they wouldn’t have offered this. I’m seen as a threat as they wish to have as much of a “normal family” as possible.
I’ve spent the last 4 years (my 30s) mulling this over. Probably why I began listening to MGTOW podcasts and slowly adopting that outlook. I do not believe in marriage, do not believe in love and do not, sadly, believe in innocence.
Help me, brothers. I know what I need to do. Logically, it’s the best for all. These emotions ebb and flow.
