The best thing would be for private citizens to start doing it. They’re actually motivated to stop looters from destroying their houses and businesses. Not government agents, that have proved time and time again they don’t give a shot about your life.

Ordinary people are committing crimes, so ordinary people need to push back.

That’s what stops this nonsense.

Guys..... while most of us here have a very bad opinion of the current rioters, i want to underline how this is NOT a political sub. It never ends well to mix politic with.... well, anything. The intention is good, the unintended consequences will be not.

It's a good question. Id only say no because what if it makes things worse. If the states refuse receiving the national gaurd and they're sent anyway, it could ferment something far worse. Rioters become more aggressive and nihilistic, or absolute worst case scenario which hopefully is very unlikely. States could go either rogue or somewhere in the ballpark of uncooperative and even rebellious and if the situation gets bad enough. Desertion and People going awol could become an issue

I don't think overmilitarization is going to do anything other than escalate things.

If Minnesota changed its "Duty to retreat" laws and announced it would not prosecute anyone for defending their property, by any means necessary, the looting would stop.

Always address the cause, not the symptom. The riots are a symptom of people being fed up with the system. Making people more fed up with the system isn't going to help. Announcing that all police body cam footage will be made available to the public, or saying that police brutality settlements will be paid by the policemans union's retirement fund, or some other big change like that, is the only thing that's going to prevent further escalation.

Also, taxation is straight up mugging, so if they burn down the IRS building I'm not going to be complaining ngl.

No. That's exactly what the government wants, an excuse to use military force against the people. Every time the government gets involved in anything it's always law abiding citizens who get hurt. The idiots who break the law anyway wont get in trouble cause they never do. Once you let the government into your life it's hard to get them out.
