Ironically enough... and as "absurd" as it seems on the surface; she MAY have a valid case:
-- If that can be proven true (say emails or other written evidence of semi-official "organizing" by staff {OR university-funded "student activity groups"}) -- even in some "indirect" manner -- then the university is (or at least certain faculty & administration personally are) hardly just some "passive/idle/neutral" and uninvolved bystander(s).
-- To be sure, she and the other students were all ridiculously IDIOTIC "cannon fodder" (and IMO are in no way deserving of any settlement money, not even to cover medical expenses).
-- But OTOH, the university (and again any faculty/administration that were) actively involved in "organizing" and/or otherwise promoting such... deserve to be penalized; and IMO depending on what the lawsuit turns up for evidence, charged with criminal offenses (not the least of which would be endangering the public, inciting riots, etc).
-- It is long since time that universities (and especially the "radical" faculty) learn they need to be, and will be held, RESPONSIBLE for the bullshit they push students to do.
