The most common misunderstanding about mgtow - is the insistence that its a shared political or ideological belief system, but there are two errors here. First, it assumes that mgtow is exclusively about going a "certain" way. Second, it assumes that all mgtow believe in "X," where X has little or nothing whatsoever to do with going your own way. This allows critics to pigeonhole men into a single philosophical straight-jacket, be it conservatism, liberalism, humanism, communism, nihilism, objectivism, relativism, solipsism ect… Then, by claiming to have identified the belief system, idea, or motivation necessary for mgtow, people can proceed to attack it, and pretend to have refuted mgtow without ever actually addressing it.

Not only does going your own way fail to imply agreement with any one belief system, it also fails to imply agreement with any other mgtow. My neighbor may be going his own way, yet we could disagree on nearly every single philosophical and social issue imaginable. Someone who attacks my neighbor's “path” doesn't address mine, or any other's.

That's the beautiful thing about going your own way. It can't be discredited like a political or religious belief system can. You alone own it, and the haters who try to associate it with any belief system or political ideology, will fail spectacularly.

This is also why I'm somewhat against evangelizing mgtow. Suggest it in passing sure, but to be almost religious about it, is a disservice to those who really need it.

People really only learn through experience. Everyone knows it. You're told don't do drugs or drink alcohol when you're young. So what do you do, you do drugs and drink alcohol. You find out for yourself, what the fuss is about and learn from experience. All the preaching and proselytizing was useless in dissuading you.

On the other hand, simple nudging or even examples of what mgtow life can be, or spare you from, that's something else entirely. Share by example, not by sermon on condemnation.

You are never dedicated to do something you have complete confidence in. No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. We all know it's going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kind of dogmas or goals, it's always because they themselves, doubt these dogmas or goals. Don't be that kind of mgtow.
