Before you tear me down, hear me out.
My boyfriend is still married and they are “separated” and both living with their new partner, me being his partner.
As long as they don’t divorce, she is not entitled to child support, which she isn’t in need of anyway because we provide for His daughters needs whenever necessary and have her 45% of the time during the summer and weekends during school. They work great as co parents, but yes, she can be an absolute bitch to him the minute she realizes she should have paid her rent before buying those cute shoes. Anytime she needs money, she turns into an emotionally and mentally abusive monster. If she asked nicely, I’d never think twice about it, but I’ve had to put my foot down with her twice as she will not talk to him in that manner anymore. She’s asked for the divorce twice now and we’ve shrugged it off without too much of a fuss. She swears she would NEVER call the law if he missed a payment, but her monstrous actions driven by greed say otherwise.
This is a good man who’s been doing temp work for the last several years of his life. I’m trying to allow him the time to build a new career by taking care of our bills while he looks for something new and I refuse to let him settle for anything less than permanent. I want his confidence to grow after the years of abuse from his wife and the work force. I say all that to say, I’m struggling to support the two of us and if child support was in the picture, we’d be on the streets right now.
I would love to one day marry him, but the truth is, I’d be okay with never having the piece of paper and giving our children his name when that time comes. People don’t like it? Oh well?
So I pose this question to you guys. You’re Men Going Your Own Way, so is it safe to assume you do not wish to ever marry? And if you’re already married, safe to assume you don’t want to marry again after what the bitch has put you through? I know in our state, both parties have to sign for the divorce to be official, but I’m no expert so I’m sure I’m missing something.
It just seems to me, actual legal divorce is where the real problems start, so why not avoid it? Am I living in a fantasy world?
Keep going your own way, you beautiful men. Cheers.
