Pretend to have your license and car (if you don't have them already) and when she DOES ask you for a favor, claim you'll help her and then make her fucking wait for as long as you can possibly keep it up. Extra points if it's an important situation. Then, when she finally realizes the hoax and gets mad and shit, remind her that you don't owe her shit and that you don't help opportunistic sluts.

Similar thing happened to me yesterday, they ask when I was getting out of school or if I'm still working, never like "how are you doing and what's going on with YOU" always about material stuff, it says alot.

She's an ex for a reason. Unless things ended on good terms, there's no reason to keep in contact with her. Asking you about your license is small talk. This is what she's doing. A)She's trying to open a channel of communication for personal info(It's a trap!). B)After seeing if you are comfortable doing that, she's searching for any potential benefits(getting a better job/pursuing a degree/etc). C)If she sees any worthwhile benefits, she'll attempt to get you to do them for her(parasite).

Remember Briffault's Law. Women do not associate with men unless they see a (potential) benefit or future benefit. No benefit=no association. She might try to appeal to you by kissing your ass. Telling you how much she misses you or how great of a guy you were, etc. Just remember this if you ever start to falter, SHE WAS FUCKING OTHER MEN THE ENTIRE TIME.

This is why you never tell your ex's how you're doing. Good or bad.

Like you said, she just wants attention. She wants to monopolize your free time. If you respond to her texts, then she thinks she has you on a leash and you still care for her. If you don't respond to her texts, then she thinks you are bitter and mad about your old relationship. Either way, it's a lose-lose situation.
