It's funny, but ask any die hard "my body, my choice" feminist her views on whether prostitution should be legal. Watch her head explode trying to explain why its ok for the government to restrict what a woman can do with her body in that situation. You can smell the hamster wheel burning from the friction.

Bottom line, when you've got a monopoly on a valuable commodity, simple economics dictates you will try to restrict other competitors from entering the market.

There’s that view, yes. Which likely has some merit. But like alcohol and gambling, prostitution tends to bring shadier people out and about. So that’s the political cover they’ve often used. I think all of it should be legal, fwiw.

Prostitution is illegal because if men could just pay per (contraceptive) orgasm nations would collapse from lack of reproduction. Governments and corporations fear this obviously and they need to keep citizens flowing in to prop up their ponzi scheme tax structures and cheap labor needs either through births or immigration. Prostitution has been legal in much of Europe for about a generation and now witness the massive influx of immigrants taking over the continent as the govts grow desperate to maintain their shell game of power.

Depends on who you ask. Some say it would open the door to women being forced into the trade. Others say the market for sex (and the prices associated with it, including fines/ bail/ court costs/ etc) would drop, making it not profitable.

They used their majority unearned democratic voting privileges. To throw men in jail, for trading currency for a one time access to a womans sexuality.

Prostitution can power away from wimmen who refuse to try and be desirable. Would EVERY man choose to visit pros if legal? Not even half. Nothing pisses me off more then the argument, birth rates will fall to extinction levels, is made. Nothing exists in a vacuum. It will not happen. Should wimmen be able to sell sex? Why not. We sell cars, beer and everything else thru sex. Why not actual sex?
