Six years in. Here's a few reasons why:

  • Even. Like Jerry in that one episode of Seinfeld. No ups, no downs, no rollercoaster, drama, fighting, dealing with tantrums or navigating the waters of ever changing emotions. Just stress free drama free even keeled peace and quiet. FOREVER. I could stop here and that should be enough for ya but let's keep going shall we?

  • More money. You know why.

  • Best physical shape of my life. I have dedicated myself to a health/fitness program which I tried many times in the past while dating/married but never stuck to. Now? Three years solid of working out and eating well and I swear I am in better shape at 36 than I was at 20.

  • Hobbies. Oh how glorious it is to rediscover the joy of uninterrupted, unquestioned hobbies. My drums get played more now than they ever have. Not a speck of dust to be found. I get high and play drums for hours and now one is here to say shit about it. It's so freeing it's unbelievable. And that extra money I mentioned above? Well I bought myself a $300 double bass pedal that plays like butter. It's heaven.

  • I actually enjoy chores now. I do them when and how I want and I listen to podcasts while doing them and just lose myself in them. No one watching over y shoulder, nagging, criticizing, etc.

There's a reason boys are happiest before puberty. My life;s mission is to now forever live like I am 10 years old. At least at home. At work I play an adult.
