I never thought about it like that but its a VERY fitting metaphor. I always used to think that its pretty interesting that if you have an LTR where you don't live together, theres only so many times she'll come over and see you without you actually taking her somewhere.

You put some money in via a good date. She'll let you pull the lever a few times. They usually even give a warning as you're running low on credits. So you put some more in to play some more. If you don't put in more credits though, and you just keep pulling the lever, eventually she'll just get mad at stop playing with you. The future doesn't matter. Your net worth doesn't matter. If you're not giving credits to her periodically then she will stop.

I think they are more like a parking meter. Complete with all the consequences of losing your job and not feeding the meter. You may get some play but you win nothing.
