It's a gender war that you started and you have made yourself my enemy with only one clear reason why I should even give you a glance in your general direction. Welcome to "equality", and as a man, the respect I earned was through trials and travels through untold miles of hell. The pain of a woman's day is far less important to me than the pain I'm feeling from going for a 6-mile run, when I haven't done something like that since before I broke it off with the last heifer I was almost dumb enough to fall into a trap for.

The whole 'squeeze the hand with a look' was a great tool because it was low key, and didn't force us into a conversation or argument we weren't ready to have. Sometimes people need time to calm down in order to have a healthy conversion. Squeeze my hand and give me the nod or something so I was aware and wasn't blind sided by it later. And once we were in a private place I made sure to ask what was wrong - if she didn't bring it up herself.

My reasoning for this was two fold:

If it wasn't important enough for her to point out to me at the time, then it wasn't important enough for her to be irate about it later. [She had a bad habit of acting like nothing was wrong and then vomiting up several issues at one time that she had been saving up and stewing on for awhile - for no reason.]
I didn't aim to piss her off. So if I unwittingly did something dumb, I wanted her to point it out to me ASAP so I didn't continue to dig myself a whole. [hence no reason for her not to at least give me a heads up, unless the goal was to fight.]

If she tried to spring it on me at a later date, days or weeks later, I would walk away [and make a mental note not to do it again], but walk away none the less. She self admittedly enjoyed arguing and starting arguments [I couldn't believe it when she told me, " you know, sometimes ya just feel like starting an argument." as if everyone has an urge to randomly start arguments from time to time with their spouse. o.o]. So when she tried to blind side me, I'd just stop the argument cold by not responding or leaving.

I'd tell her, "Sorry you didn't bring this up when it happened. You chose to sit on it and let it fester rather than bringing it to my attention so we could fix the situation, or at least so you could get it off your chest."

my ex used to get me to pump her gas,,, and would get her freak on if I left her with no gas... heaven forbid she actually had to pump gas for once. so glad I don't have to worry about that situation anymore
