Recently I've had a series of events happen that made me question who I am, what I should expect from people and if I'm just the odd one out. I'm a 24 year old guy, have looked into MGTOW multiple times and it speaks to me, but there is one thing I can't stand and have a hard time dealing with.

The lack of compassion and mutual attachment I've found in most people these days.

Personally, I don't think attachment is bad. If good times end because someone leaves your life, sadness is a natural emotion to have. It's when you lose control over it and become dependent that it is bad. I don't think we'd be as far as we are today if it wasn't for the kind warriors who lend their hand expecting nothing, and instilled this behavior into others. But the people around me lately have made me do most of the work to connect and invite them, claiming they are living in the moment and ready to let go at any time. All the push and no pull. Is this really true? Or is this a bad excuse for not being willing to accept someone's hand, much less stick out a hand to others and initiate?

Old timers and others, how did you deal with people who were devoid of warmth on every interaction where they once showed it? Am I the lost fool here who can't handle the way things are? Or is it really so rare to find people with genuine kindness in their hearts these days? It's something I've had to think on a lot and have yet to find the answer to truly be the man who goes his own way.
