Before MGTOW i had a brief fling with trying to learn pickup. I failed miserably of course because on top of all of my issues what I didn't fully understand at the time was that your perceived status matters more than anything else. Also the fact that I'm Asian in the so called multicultural city of Toronto meant that I had to start from a lower status than the whitey next to me and had to work extra hard raising my status just to be on an even plane. This is where pickup lost me. I guess I valued my time too much and couldn't justify putting all that effort just to 'con' a bunch of girls into thinking that I'm higher status than i really am, when instead I can put that effort towards actually raising my status through my professional work and building up resources.

One of the pickup gurus I used to follow was this guy Todd V who I consider the least cringe inducing out of the guys in the pickup scene. I still get email updates from him and the latest one had the word hypergamy in the title which I thought was interesting because it's a term primarily associated with redpill and MGTOW. Is he sensing threat to his business and is trying to co opt the MGTOW terminologies? Anyways in the email was link to his new video where he talks about what motivates women to have sex. It's basically your basic redpill knowledge like how women are opportunistic and status seeking sluts and that no matter how great you are at the end of the day (or night) you can still get rejected for completely pragmatic or other random reasons. What's crazy though is that the final message of the video Is, yes women are this way, but keep trying. Keep playing their games and keep sacrificing your time, money, and brain power for a random hoe to sleep with you. It all sounds so insane to me now.

Something else that I noticed about the pickup scene is that it works like a pyramid scheme. Even If you are an expert at pick up I would suspect that there is a ceiling to your success level if you are going at it alone. By becoming a pick up "guru" not only do you raise your status by the income that you generate from it, but you also get an army of betta male followers around you that also raises your status in the eyes of women. I think this is the natural path of all the pick up experts that spent all their time and resources into attracting women. They realize that women's validation is ultimately meaningless and unfulfilling, but since they're old now and have no other skill set they cling on to the pickup game to earn their living. They've set up a system for themselves where pick up envelopes their entire life. Not only can they make a comfortable living by taking money from these beta orbiters, by the virtue of coaching them you appear to be higher status by the women and thus get easier access to their golden hairy V. They understand that to really get to the pinnacle you have to be at the top of the pyramid and instead of climbing an existing one they can construct their own pyramid and sit at the top by becoming an online personality.

I also think it's amusing that increasingly the pickup guys are marketing themselves as self help for men to reach their full potential and live a fulfilling life. From my experience fulfillment came from working on my craft and seeing the incremental improvement in my ability. I guess you can apply that to sleeping with women but what will you have at the end? Women. You have no other skill or talent because you put all the points towards pickup. Your only choice at that point would be to resume your mediocre life, or double down and become a pickup expert.

I do think that some of the material is useful for understanding female nature, but I just don't see the reason to learn any of that when achieving High status will basically let you override all of that automatically. Anyways what are your thoughts about pick up?
