We've all seen the movies, had the family talks, influences from friends/school... and women on what constitutes success: good education, great health, marriage and wealth.

Now, these are all worthy pursuits for a man; being successful in the convential sense is wholesome.

Regardless: it isn't law. There isn't anything wrong with being a 'loser' in the convential sense. The universe simply doesn't care what you, I or anyone else wants to do with our speck of time on this planet.

Billions of people have lived ordinary lives before we were born and, yet, the earth kept spinning. Likewise, many magnates have lived, died and have been forgotten.

It doesn't matter.

What does matter is this: what will make you happy during the short time you have? Is it travel? Hobbies? Fitness?

Or... Is it a set of values you wish to live by? To be honest when others are not? To be free?

These are all existential queations a man needs to regularly ask himself. There's no guidebook to life; you are the only author of your story.
