I've been going my own way for 10 years (before i even found this sub reddit) and I'm 30 years old.

I am finding happiness in being this character that women lust for and want, but cannot ever get close to. I prefer that they admire me from afar, and keep whatever ideal they have of me intact.

Meanwhile I have peace of mind, and the freedom to do what I want each day, striving to achieve the goals I've set for myself. It is a lot of work, and it's like chasing the horizon to try and fill in the ideal image that a woman has of her dream man.

And in the end, they want to domesticate and control me, mould me into something more to her liking. I'm a little too independent for that, particularly when I know how easy it is to discard me if I ever do allow myself to become attached and/or vulnerable.

We each have our own path in life. Sometimes our paths run parallel, cross, etc. but at the end of the day it is your path alone that no one can walk with you.

Shaming is all about controlling. Control yourself and don't let yourself be controlled by others. You are the prize.

I don’t think it’s affection that makes women turned off, it’s the right balance of being a man and keeping your frame while from time to time being a bit open.

If you’re completely dead inside and don’t express emotion (I’m not insisting you go crying and complaining about everything) but you have to show just a tiny amount that you have feelings and that you’re human.

Women naturally like to feel desired, especially by their partner/boyfriend/husband and overdoing it is wrong but the occasional compliment goes a long way

In my long adult life, I've learned that if you're being shames for showing emotion, then you're hanging out with the wrong people.

When it comes to your women statement, have them chase you. Have them work for your excitement, and the world will change 👑

Well, I'd say it depends...

- on what you're expressing and how you're expressing it

- on the state of the relationship (how you're getting along, how long you've known each other, how deep it's gotten);

- her own comfort with expressing feelings, or hearing feelings from men, or with being open and honest in general

It's hard to provide a general answer, because it depends on those factors and probably others as well. For instance, it's entirely possible to express genuine feelings in an awkward way that makes the interchange feel weirder than it needs to be -- that's likely if you're new to this. It's also possible to say it clumsily, in a way that doesn't come across right. It's also possible to jump the gun, to say something too early, or out of context with where your relationship is at the moment.

In addition, many women are not comfortable with expressing their own feelings, let alone hearing about men's feelings. We have this stereotype that women are emotional and sensitive, but many of them are not. Some are emotionally distant and insensitive. Others anxious or withdrawn when emotion-laden talk comes up. They are scared of emotion, don't know how to deal with it in themselves or when it comes from a guy, so they shut down and pull back.

So it's not necessarily that you showed affection, so now she's lost attraction for you. I think it can be more complicated than that. There are a lot of possibilities.
