I came across a movie on Netflix that some may enjoy. I've recently stopped drinking, so when I woke up on this couch with a huge hangover this morning, I needed some background noise to deal with the incessant sunlight from self-isolation beaming through the window.

As no one here is quarantined like I am, I'm sure no one is interested in something to stream, so here you go.

Last night I enjoyed watching Shawshank Redemption and Raiders of the Lost Ark so I needed a come down.

I saw Netflix had picked up The Platform a Spanish film (dubbed in Freedom Speech) which has some interesting themes of shattering illusions (which is how I took it) and nihilism. Actual film reviewers took it differently, but pretty much I only see what I want to see.

It's a sci-fi / philosophical piece about a "prison", some people sentenced, some people volunteering, consisting of numbered floors with a platform the descends from the top to the bottom of food, with the idea that there's equal amounts for everyone. The platform descends and stops at each floor for two minutes before descending to the ones below it.

As you can guess, because of the human condition, hijinks ensue.

Themes of communism, market forces, religion, philosophy, murder, suicide, insanity, and cannibalism all have some time of discussion.

I would say those themes or ideas as "attacked", but it's more that that, and it's more about "The System" and people becoming trapped in it.

Which is how I think it's MGTOW related.

If, like me (and who isn't), you wasted your money and time going to college for Philosophy, as if those books aren't basically free anyway, you may have been dumb enough to spend your money on a literature class where you read Jorge Luis Borges' The Library of Babel, which is similar in which it explored an infinite universe and philosophical issues around it.
