The Handmaid's Tale is something that should be called "Victim Porn".

It's a story about a dystopic future in America where religious fanatics have taken over, after a crisis of falling birthrates become critical. They set themselves up are rulers and basically enslave everyone else. The show pretty much ignores how everyone, including men, are enslaved and brutalized by a tyrannical government that makes Nazi Germany look friendly. Instead all the attention is focused on a small group of fertile women who are forced to breed with the rulers.

I was asking myself, why women would like this show? All it does is show one scene after another of the women being raped, tortured, or put into forced labor. The occasionally try to escape or mount some resistance or something, but then they fail and go back being miserable. The torture and punishments the women receive are contrived and stupid. For example, one woman's clit is surgically removed as a punishment. Ok, that would suck as much as losing your cock, but why go through all that effort when there are so many easier ways to brutalize someone??

The answer is that women like this sort of shit. They don't want to see real torture, they want a sort of horror that resonates with a childish perspective. And they love seeing women being victims of this sort of thing, but still being defiant and "strong".

It's victim porn.
