For context: my wife (35) is a fitness instructor (in great shape) and I (37) have always been in okay shape, but just recently signed up for an Ironman.

Further to the above, when I was in poorer shape, say 5 years ago, she would encourage me (nicely) to get in better shape, but now that I’ve made progress (and ostensibly will be making even MORE progress between now and the Ironman this summer), it seems as if she’s trying to nudge me backwards by telling me to eat more (I’m meal-planning and not starving myself) and rest more than my training plan allows - and through all of this we’ve seemed to have a decline in sex; not the opposite. I read this part of a Maxim on Illimitable Men, and it seems like it could fit the bill (I’m also expanding the business I own, hiring people, etc.), but I also don’t want to be hammer pretending everything is a nail.

Could there be another explanation or is it really this simple?

“Her perception of you will remain rooted in the former version of yourself and her needs/issues will hinder your progress. Whilst you’re trying to build your business and body, she will whine, spread negative energy, and burden you with her problems. Her negativity will infect you, hindering your growth.”
