I was just reading this article regarding alcohol and women engaging in risky activity, when I had a thought. It might be possible to study the physiological responses of men to sexual stimuli while under the influence of excessive amounts of alcohol. This would give scientific consideration to the idea that men can indeed be raped while drunk, and that simply having an erection does not imply consent.

I think that this would be very valuable in the writing / updating of rape laws, and in the discussion of the topic of rape and sexual assault.

Does anyone know of such a study already? If there are any brothers or sisters here in academia, within a field that could study this, perhaps it might be a really big deal. If a graduate student here could get this through their ethics board, it could be part of a huge (in terms of importance) thesis topic.
