What has really disappeared from our culture is a proper 'Coming of Age' Ceremony for young men, allowing them to understand themselves, and the expectations of the society they find themselves in. Like the Celtic 'Quest', the Aboriginal 'Walkabout'... or Guan Li.... maybe Quinceanera, etc. Here in the west, all we do is stick an invisible badge on male kids from the age of consent onwards. 'To Serve and Protect.' Which used to be all well and good, but the former reciprocity of that arrangement with the female sex has gone. Nowadays, we can work towards higher invisible levels, like scout badges. The ones which say 'Meal Ticket.' Or how about 'Mug'....?
