TLDR at the end . I was vacationing with my family joined by my parents friends. They were discussing the usual politics and stuff with a 60 something guy , a dad of 2 millenial daughters who are both earning more than me. (You will know why I mentioned this). He had the audacity to ask my income. I said the amount to him without taking offence. He said why don't you contribute 1/3rd of that to your mom? I was like stuck for a while but It struck me he is refering to the Indian traditions bullshit culture about men being breadwinners and so on and so forth. I totally empathize with him that he had difficulties in his time. He might have to face being one of 13 siblings and no source of income. He was clearly jealous of this generation who does not marry or breed early and gets to spend their income all by themselves. Since he has 2 daughters he never expected from them even once in his life to contribute their income in the household expenses. I do not know what is being perpetuated about the "crimes against women" in India to the western countries but the truth is totally something else. Majority crimes against women happen in rural areas and tier 3 cities. Today in big cities women have the major advantages with dowry laws,social life, income oppurtunities. Our gender ratio is so horrible you could spot the ugliest female here and even she will find 3 men willing to fuck her. All she has to do is consent. I was working in a company some time back. I could just see the attention and patience women employees get by their coworkers. I was told by that 60M family friend of ours that your mother is lucky she has two sons means she has 2 people to work for her oldage benefits. Just FYI both my parents aren't even 50. It is ridiculous how men are just expected to contribute.
