There are so many articles of women forcing men and children to have sex with them and the terminology used to identify the act is almost purposefully obscure, inconspicuous even.
"Rape" "raped" and etc should be used as a term to point at the term, raise concern at why it is in quotes instead of stated outright, and bring awareness that it is rape in definition if there wasn't a hard distinction solely required to use the word without context.
People say you can't use the word rape in these cases, however, I do believe that quoting the term to isolate the idea of the word that has actually and factually been committed but stands outside of the definition of it will address the problem without violating the fact that it is currently not definable for women to men as rape.
An example would be quoting the word perfect. Perfect means perfect in and out of quotes, but perfect is independently perceived based on the person's idea of perfect. Clearly rape is a pretty goddamn solid idea of what it is, so discussion could easily be pointed to the fact that unfortunately the only reason people don't use the word against women doing the same shit is that it is not lawfully perceived that way despite being exactly what the fuck it is.
I feel like this needs to be done because It's almost certain that if someone types rape into a search they're just going to see a bunch of dudes and no women will pop up. And you'd have to play the word game until you actually come across instances from the other side.
That needs to change. We stress in school how important it is to choose impactful words when communicating and having to play thesaurus when women "rape" men is just an absolute disservice to the english language at large.
If people genuinely have an issue with rapists being called rapists then I literally fold. My gut is already bubbling with the idea a flock of idiots are going to find their way in here and say "uh actually" about it rather than start filing these news articles exactly where they belong.
