In 1986, Australia introduce new laws requiring contiuous consent. In a very short time, two women had set up the husband of one of them to be convicted of failing to stop when consent was withdrawn. He was sentenced to four years' prison for continuing 30 seconds after consent was withdrawn. The sentence was later reduced to six months.

One of the women later told police that the whole thing had been a set up. Now this didn't change the facts of the case but did result in the two women being convicted of perverting the course of justice. It took four years between the admission and Ibbs' acquittal. He later committed suicide.
