I have been reluctant to bring up this topic in the past, but for whatever reason I am feeling it today. I wanted to start a discussion regarding custody situations in the United States. Has anyone else noticed how the courts are so unfairly biased towards women? When there is a split parenting situation, men have to prove that they are WORTHY of being in their child’s life, but all the woman has to do is exist. One small in fraction as little as forgetting to pay child support when we can lose a man his custody, but a woman can literally be on drugs and still retain custody. Why is this the case? Why is the system that incredibly biased? In fact, I have a friend who only got custody of his daughter full custody that is after the mother had been convicted three times of having heroin in her system. There are so many fathers out there that are labeled as deadbeat because of their limited if any participation in the children’s lives, but the court system is so heavily favored against him. So I suppose the point of all of this is, how do we change? How do we change the system to get away from this completely biased and unfair situation?
