You're right that most people require a balance. If you find your plans are not actualised in a way that satisfies you, you should consider breaking down bigger plans into smaller items and focus on doing those. Conversely, if you find yourself going through the motions of daily life without a greater purpose, it might be time to take a step back and reflect, then make new plans.

I can see how this might be related to Men's Rights as a general self-help point, but maybe you can be more explicit about how it relates to the topic? Otherwise, /r/mensupportmen would be a good place to discuss things like this.

This is a quote about self achievement but isn't really about men's rights. Some men that are denied their rights, fair treatment and equality will obsess about self improvement because it gives them a feeling of control. If that works for them that's their choice but it doesn't improve things for men where it comes to fair treatment from society.
