This point was driven home yet again, when I stumbled across an episode from the second season of the original Charmed series, from The 90s. Specifically, Episode 5, when Shannon Doherty's character(who's been transformed into a man)meets a former boyfriend at a bar, and they have a conversation which mirrors much of the chatter we hear today....

"When it comes to dating women these days, I just can't figure out what they want. It's a real confusing time to be a man"

"You mean like in what way?"

"Like in every way. I mean even in opening up doors or pulling out chairs. Some women expect it, others hate it. They never know which camp there in until it's too late"

Great news though: What follows next indicates that then as now, all isn't so dreary:

"What camp do you think Prue is in?"

"Prue? The good one. The one that likes it. She's cool"

While most chicks do have prejudices and biases towards men(welcome to reality, kids. All human beings have prejudices and biases towards a wide variety of their fellow humans), the vast majority are also in the camp that likes it
