There is a huge difference from "repressed childhood memories recovered under hypnosis" and "this happened to me, but I didn't come forward because I figured nobody would believe me".

More problems with the satanic ritual abuse stuff that doesn't parallel the cosby / ghomeshi / r kelly rape accusations:

The stories presented by victims are generally lacking in detail. The only details of rituals provided are often what can be found in books or in horror movies.

When multiple victims are alleged, the stories of individuals do not agree with the stories of any other victim.

This is why I'm skeptical of the Dylan Farrow rape accusations in a way that I'm not about the Cosby, R Kelly, or Jian Ghomeshi accusations. Because The Dylan Farrow ones are being made by a mother who wasn't there and a child (who could easily have been pushed into making false memories), and there have been no other accusations prior or since. When many people have direct and personal accounts that match up, and weren't recovered under hypnosis... I think it behoves us to take them very seriously. Just as we should also take the rights of the accused seriously.
