Done. Isn't lying to cause harm or injury considered slander? Is there no punishment for that? I always assumed if someone were to be caught lying just to get someone in trouble they'd be at least be charged with perjury.

I go back and forth on this.

I think that people that accuse others falsely and maliciously should be punished as harshly as would the victim of the false accusation would have been, if found guilty.

On the other hand, a false accuser may stick to the story longer and more tenaciously if there is a chance for them to go to jail instead of admitting it and ending the victim's suffering.
