I guess its hard for me to objectively comment on that issue/article because my father is shorter than his wife. He is also one of the strongest guys I know. He is 5'7'', about 140 lbs, a police officer, and an accomplished martial artist. His wife is also a police officer (thats how they met), but she is 6'1'' (taller than me, even!).

So, even though I understand where the article is coming from (my dad gets into a disproportionate number of fights at work because suspects think they can "take him" because of his size), being raised by him has taught me to see past that.

I envy the short... for in the Army, there are no down-sides to being short.

I am a tall dude. I whack my head on shit, my uniforms don't fit, I'm more noticeable, and I don't fit in military trucks. My back is getting destroyed.

My friend is short. He has none of these problems. He is very happy that he is short because he can deal with the same exact tings without issues.

Being short is a very positive trait in the Army.
