There is a recent trend, the #metoo movement I mean. While it's good to see so many women coming out and giving scumbags what they deserve, it sorry if haunts me that all that a woman now needs to destroy my entire life is a hashtag.

I say this with reason. I am up for equal rights as much as the next guy or gal, but it bothers me how the law just believes what the women say, usually without evidence. And it is no joking matter, since most people get their news from social networks nowadays, it's very easy to taint somebody's reputation. Having your name in a headline in the same sentence as "sexual assault" is death essentially. Media doesn't cover people who get cleared of such charges, as it's not going with the trend and it is not as clickbaity as a post saying that XYZ molested a girl ABC years ago.

My thinking is that since everyone has a different sense of personal space, and a small violation of this personal space even by accident can end up with you being up on someone's Twitter profile with the dreaded hashtag. A psychopath woman can end your life with a tweet, and as a person who believes in equal rights for everyone (any identified or non identified genders, races etc) I think that is unfair. I believe in "innocent until proven guilty.".

I do not wish to undermine the trauma and plight that the victims face, but it's only fair. The movements that were meant to unite us have just driven a huge wedge between the genders. That is a very dark future. I don't want my son to grow up in a world where his whole life could be destroyed by an angry ex with a cell phone. We need to be more careful of what we do with cases with no evidence, and our default response should not be, "Well, she said he did it, so...". Equal rights also mean equal trust during trial, and punishment for false accusations.
