You can tell they realize the stupidity of their stance, but just can't admit it. This is why they distract and reword.

They won't change because it "feels good" and includes them in a "tribe/sisterhood".

It's always about them. "Sociopathy is as sociopathy does". The irony is they think they are the empathetic ones, and we are the sociopaths.
