Hey, everyone. I was wondering if there is an established name for the following phenomenon:

  • A few people in Group A commit a particular crime repeatedly

  • Group B is the majority target of said crimes

  • Group B sees this as a common crime, while the majority of Group A does not experience/witness it as such.

  • Group B then tries to address the issue by targeting Group A as the culprits of these crimes, though the grand majority of them have no part in it.

We can all think about situations in which this happens. I just want to know if there are any labels and descriptions in the fields of psychology/sociology/etc. that would give me insight about why and how this happens. Thanks!
