Today I went to stop and shop (local grocery store) to get some stuff, chicken, fruits, coffee etc. Stuff ill be using tomorrow for dinner mainly and coffee. So I have like 6 items total. The cashiers like 20 something female, there's 2 people in front of me, both older women. The cashier asks them if they'd like to donate a dollar to the jimmy fund, aka cancer/children's hospital thing. I always donate a buck for it. I over hear her talking to them so I get a buck ready from my wallet to donate. I get up to the line, she never asks me. Never hints to it. Barely even acknowledges I am a customer and I am there. Just the basic your total is...___ and have a good day. Then the lady behind me with 2 kids gets the whole special treatment and stuff, i hear it as i leave.

If this was a few years ago I wouldn't of batted an eye at it. But now its really got me thinking. Why am I so quickly dismissed for charitable stuff? I'm not a scary looking guy, I don't talk in a loud boisterous voice. I'm not wearing anything thug-life-esque (t-shirt, shorts, sandles). Is this truly what people want? To openly dismiss men just because we're men? Maybe I am just over analyzing this. Then again maybe I'm not...
