Men, be aware that this covid-19 virus is not just a catalyst for change in the macro economy, but your micro economy too. If you have lost your job, or you are about to, you are very likely to be served divorce papers. Just like getting ready for this virus, you need to get ready for the fight of your life. I have been through this, and cannot tell you enough how true these words are: The person who wants a divorce from you is not the person you married. They are a completely different, and evil person, only looking out for them self. If you have kids, god have mercy on you, it will be harder than if you don't have kids. In either case, here are some tips:

1) Take care of yourself first. You can't take care of your kids if you are in a shitty state. Regulate. Breathe. Plan. Confide in a buddy. Keep your cards close.

2) Take care of your finances. She is divorcing you now, and will do everything to get alimony/maintenance/child support at your current pay rate. This is why she will file now.

3) Take care of your house. She will do everything she can, including false DV claims, to get you to move out. Do NOT move out. She is the one that wants to change, SHE can move out. Move to the basement. Avoid her. Have a camera or recorder going at all times when you must interact to protect yourself. She will do everything she can to start a fight. Avoid it at ALL COSTS. Keep yourself regulated (see number one above).

4) Lawyer Up. She already has, and you are behind in the hardest, toughest race of your life. There is a saying, do you know why divorce is so expensive? because it it worth it. This statement will only make sense a year or more down the road.

5) If you have kids: Oh Lord. Find a divorced dad. The best divorced dad you can. Talk to them. Document / journal every single day what you do with your kids, and also note how their mom interacts with them and you. Keep this journal private. Be a good dad. Don't drink. Don't chase tinder trash. Just get through this intact for your own dignity, and for your children's health. They will thank you later.

Final word: This doesn't get easier, but it will get better. Eventually.
