This data is consistent with research on differences found between men and women in methods used to commit suicide, the influence of alcohol, and other social or cultural factors.

So, we talk about higher depression in girls, higher hospital admissions for girls, higher self harm rates for girls, and all this is consistent with the research on the higher death rate for boys. The best research, anyway.
