I guess you need to take care of your own regardless of gender. I know I would need to put my life on the line to protect my niece or nephews. I would help out my gf too. But I would not put my life on the line for a random woman.

It also depends on the case. If a strong big man starts annoying your gf, is she really in danger or might you escalate the situation and put yourself in danger for no good reason? Sometimes it is best to walk away and women like to escalate shit cause they are not the ones whose heads will get smashed in. If they were afraid, as some say, they would not be in peoples faces like they are, you simply do not see men do that as much.

I have an abusive narcissistic mother. I would not put my life on line for her.

I am sure if your woman is abusive, you are less likely to be there for her. Why should you be? I think that respect and loyalty breed the same and abuse just breeds contempt.

The boyfriend likely froze and didn't even process what happened until it was over and yet all the top comments with thousands of upvotes are calling him an asshole and a coward
