Bare with me because this is going to be a bit of a wall of text. I have a paper to write for my college Research Strategies class and I would really like to try something a bit out of the ordinary. We need to cover demographic segment – i.e., an easily definable section of the U. S. population, that includes an aspect of health care as it’s provided in the United States. The kicker is it needs to contain two of the following: Race/ethnicity, sex, age, and class (defined by income). One example the professor gave was "Access to diabetes education for Latino men 65 years and older who have diabetes: what are the barriers, if any?".

I am thinking it might be a good idea to try and bring together the difficulties that lower income men have in receiving mental health assistance in the United States. What I am asking of you fine people is your thoughts on that idea and maybe some resources that could put me on the right track. I am not asking for anyone to do my work by any means. I am just trying to get the spark going and see if there is enough credible information to build a solid paper.

There is no worries about the professor leaning any which way on any subject matter. She is very down to earth, open minded, and extremely reasonable. I will be needing to use many different resources to tackle this assignment. They are: two books, four academic journal articles, two trade journals, two articles from the alternative/independent press, and two government reports.

Would you think that there enough information to build a solid paper taking into account the needed resources?
