Trigger warnings as they are used now are the opposite of what is considered psychologically healthy for PTSD. I know this because I have PTSD and controlled exposure leads to desensitization to the triggering stimulus. Trigger warnings and avoidance cause the trigger to get more ingrained. This isn't even new science. Psychology has used exposure therapy to treat triggers since before trigger warnings were really even a thing.
