The thing that caught my attention was the 5 years and framing for rape. The only two sentences for false rape reports that were that substantial was a woman who got five years, but who also had an elaborate cancer scam and defrauded a bunch of people and her victim went to prison for 9 years and of course the woman who falsely accused 15 men of rape and sent one man to prison for 2 years, she got 10 years.

This is a fairly egregious case, but you could also argue that the criminal justice system worked the exact way it was meant to. Her victim spent 88 days in jail, but that sounds like pre-trial custody and the fact that her plan was elaborate probably actually helped detectives figure out that it was false.

Let me stress that I'm not critical of the sentence. It's a good sentence. I'm critical of the fact that most other sentences especially when the victim is a man, are so lenient. I question why the judge believed that she deserved 30 times more jail time than Elizabeth Coast who sent Jonathan Montgonery to prison for 4 years. There are other cases like that as well where women spent less time in prison than the men they falsely accused.

It's a good sentence, but I wonder what she would have gotten if she had accused a man. I also didn't see that whole, well this story was false, but we want to encourage victims to come forward thing the police always say when the victim of the false report is male.

How often do you see that in a false rape case although I've advocated that on other threads. If her victim spent time in jail, she should be charged with kidnapping and wrongful imprisonment. If he underwent an intimate forensic exam, she should be charged with sexual assault, etc. Where else have you ever seen that?
