You'll be surprised how many women try to get with married men. You might actually find wearing a ring has the opposite effect.

Plus you would need to answer questions about your "wife" if people asked and if it ever came out you weren't married that could have a negative effect on you.

Honestly, don't wear the ring. Just stay focused on your grind and don't get distracted. If women approach be polite but let them know you aren't interested in dating.

When I first got engaged I found that when I wore my ring I was hit on a lot more.

On the one hand, it gives you an excuse to say 'no'. On the other hand, it will attract the more toxic type of woman.

I wouldn’t bother with the ring. If you don’t want to date, or even be pursued by women, the best thing you can do is stand your ground. Your consent is as important as theirs. Practicing saying no is always a good thing.

this post is fake:

18 is too early to fake being married. nobody will believe you. who's even married while studying in college? not a man for sure. 100 years ago it happened but university was much cheaper and people didn't tend to go far from home to study.

women don't usually approach men. it's not a problem to avoid them and if they're really so insistent then they won't be put off by a ring. on the contrary. you'll be sure everyone fawning over you won't take no for an answer.

for someone in high doing amazingly well in his education you're writing very poorly. i don't mean to shame you: i do too; but in high school if you're used to writing well it takes effort to be so nonchalant to make such gross mistakes, effort it makes no sense to spend for this.

why are you doing this? is it a coping mechanism? look, i'm angry too. with many people. women, men, right-wingers, left wingers, marine biologists, you name it, and i engage in pointless arguments but even i don't understand the motive behind this post

If it’s to “signal to females to keep off” then just fucking tell them you’re not interested.

I started wearing a ring when I was 16 and the amount of women I had approach me increased a lot. I say most because I've had women approach me the second my girlfriend walked away. The one that sticks with me the most was a St Patrick days street party where two women demanded I leave with them and wouldn't take no for an answer, even though my girlfriend was with me. Most will take rejection better by saying you're married so that does help. Without that excuse it can get rather bad at times. It was a running joke between my friends that women were more attracted to guys they thought already had someone. So I'm my experience wearing one seems to make you more approachable, while giving you an excuse to deny them that won't hurt their feelings. Kinda depends on what you want, but I've preferred wearing one just for the excuse. It works because I can say my girlfriend of 20 years is my wife without actually marrying her.

Wear a ring, only if you like it. I am 23 but when I was your age, I got a ring as a gift. Some classmates asked me jokingly if I am engaged but made me realize that ring may indicate that the person is not single. I still wear it to this day.

Why bother. That’s something that women do when they go out and don’t want to get hit on. It works (sort of) for them because most guys aren’t going to bother with a “taken” woman when there’s plenty of single ones around. And it makes sense: the chances of rejection are high enough, why go and put yourself in a position where it’s guaranteed?

But the dynamic is different for women. It’s less common for them to do the approaching (it does happen though), and as others have said, there’s a type of woman who actually are going for a guy who’s married or has a long term girlfriend as a challenge. With them it seems to be an ego trip: “I’m so hot he’ll dump his girl for me”. It’s a common thing that women go with “bad boys” and kid themselves that “he’ll change for me”, and this seems to be part of the continuum.

And it does seem to be the case that if another woman sees you as desirable, your “market value” seems to rise a lot for other women.

So don’t bother. It will attract the attention of the sort of women you really do not want to get involved with.
