The article is here.
sourcefed.com/yahoo-executive-actually-makes-more-for-getting-fired/
I read this article and I was shocked for two reasons.
First, I enjoy SourceFed and watch it much of the week, if not daily. I'd never seen anything like this from them before.
And secondly, because they completely misrepresented the facts.
This is specifically what I'm talking about when I said man hate:
Besides… extra bonus awesome points if you have a dick, and your company is too busy being extra shitty, hoping it people somehow forget that it’s extremely shitty, and you know… not paying their competent, well qualified FEMALE executive the correct amount of compensation (comparatively to others (read: >males) in the company! Woo-hoo, Yahoo! Way to be total douchebags. Yay big business and ridiculous male privilege!
Side note and all misogyny aside… What exactly do ANY of these people do that warrant that kind of salary…
The fact is that he did not 'earn' more than she did. When she hired him, getting him to quit his job at Google and work for her, she offered him stock compensation and agreed on a severance package. So when she fired him he got the severance she offered him plus his stock compensation. And he only got that much because the stock pretty much doubled during his time working there.
Also, is this misogyny when she is the one that hired him, specifically poaching him from Google and offering him the stock options and severance?
I don't remember my exact wording but essentially I posed how you can't compare their money and for it to be a fair/accurate assessment of their earnings you would have to also fire Mayer and add her severance and stock options into the situation. And I said that this money is from the severance and stock compensation SHE gave him upon hiring him so Yahoo! isn't paying men more than women. The woman CEO is responsible for him getting that money.
And of course pointed out the fact that SourceFed simply posted a cookie cutter article, but adding more man hate. I checked back five minutes later and it was deleted.
As for the cookie cutter part, I can't post the link because it seems to be against the rules but I found another website with pretty much the exact same article/wording. SF only changed a few words/phases here and there and added in a lot of the man hate on top of it. I added the link in the first post and I guess it got deleted.
edit: I don't think the outrage flair is actually appropriate but I didn't see an 'annoyance' flair.
